
Learn basic Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and foundational studies to start building confidence in understanding the language. This 14-week course introduces students to the structure of Classical Arabic through core grammar (naḥw), practical vocabulary, sentence construction, guided translation, and applied reading — progressing from the basic categories of words all the way to analyzing full Arabic sentences, including selected Qur'anic phrases.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
● Identify ism (noun), fiʿl (verb), and ḥarf (particle), including the signs used to recognize each.
● Understand iʿrāb and identify rafʿ, naṣb, jarr, and jazm with their primary and secondary signs.
● Identify and analyze mubtadaʾ, khabar, fāʿil, nāʾib al-fāʿil, and mafʿūl bihi.
● Recognize and use essential beginner vocabulary: pronouns, demonstratives, question words, prepositions, gender, number, and definiteness.
● Construct and analyze basic nominal and verbal sentences and apply guided translation to short Arabic and selected Qur'anic phrases.
14-Week Curriculum
Primary texts: Al-Ājurrūmiyyah (Weeks 1–9) and Al-ʿImriṭiyyah (Weeks 10–14). The course is designed as a cumulative progression: students first learn how Arabic words and complete sentences are classified, then learn why word endings change, master the four grammatical states and their signs, and finally apply those foundations to sentence structure. Vocabulary and guided translation are integrated throughout.

Week 3 — Signs Used to Recognize Nouns.
Week 4 — Signs Used to Recognize Verbs & Particles.
Week 5 — Introduction to Iʿrāb & Changes in Word Endings.
Week 6 — The Four Grammatical States.
Week 7 — Primary & Secondary Signs of Rafʿ.
Week 8 — Primary & Secondary Signs of Naṣb.
Week 9 — Signs of Jarr & Jazm.
Week 10 — Nominal Sentences: Mubtadaʾ & Khabar.
Week 11 — Verbal Sentences & the Subject: Fāʿil.
Week 12 — Passive Sentences & Nāʾib al-Fāʿil.
Week 13 — The Direct Object: Mafʿūl Bihi.
Week 14 — Adjectives, Possession, Review & Final Assessment.

Assessment
Student progress is evaluated throughout the 14-week course through a combination of attendance, participation, daily practice, assignments, and formal assessments — measuring both consistent effort and mastery of the Arabic grammar and language skills taught throughout the course.
